Five-year-old boy pleads with mother to buy homeless man food

Josiah Duncan, troubled by the dirty and dishevelled appearance of a man, asked his mother what was wrong and what homeless meant

The faith and generosity of one young boy left restaurant-goers in tears after he asked his mother to buy a homeless man food in the US.
Five-year-old Josiah Duncan found one man's rough appearance so disconcerting, he asked his mother what was wrong.

When Ava Faulk explained that he was homeless, Josiah asked: "What does that mean?"
He asked many more questions, WSFA 12 News reported on Sunday, including "Where is his house? Where is his family? Where does he keep his groceries?"
According to Ms Faulk, it was the man's lack of food which troubled him most during the incident a few weeks ago in Prattville, Alabama.

Ms Faulk told WSFA: "[The homeless] man came in and sat down and nobody really waited on him. So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can’t order without one."

The homeless man asked for a hamburger but Ms Faulk insisted he could have whatever he wanted. The five-year-old then wished to say grace loudly before the man began eating, moving the restaurant with 11 other customers to tears.
Ms Faulk, who contacted WSFA via email about her son's generosity, said: "The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried."
